Up until today all of my placemarks labels (the text written inside
the <Name> node) has always been horizontal regardless of the
<heading> of the placemark (only the icon would conform to the heading
but the label would remain horizontal) but now the labels conform to
the same <heading> as the icon.

Why would this happen all of a sudden? Is there any way to correct
this?

Is there anyway to fix it? My business relies SO heavily on this
program and it has become un-usable, is there any solution?!

As a workaround, could you create a pair of placemarks, one with
heading zero, the <Name> node, and an invisible icon, and one with the
correct heading, and the correct icon?

That's a good workaround; we are working on a fix.

This sounds like a good idea until you consider that a user will be
seeing two points spread apart from one another when they press on the
icon. One of the spread away points will be an invisible icon and the
other will be a icon with heading.

Is there a way to make a placemark unselectable?

Ah, that is definitely a good point. So far, there isn't a way of
making a placemark unselectable.

At any rate, I'll update the issue tracker at
http://code.google.com/p/earth-api-samples/issues/detail?id=113 when a
fix is in place.
