to KML Developer Support - Google Earth Plug-in
Hi,
I was wondering if someone from Google could shed some insight on what
Google's plans for updating the Plugin API are.
It seems to have mostly stagnated over the past year or so with highly
sought after requests (http://code.google.com/p/earth-api-samples/
issues/detail?id=5) that have been around for 3+ years plus going
unnoticed.

Thanks.

Can I echo James' comments?  There was no response to his question and I can't find any roadmap for development or deprecation of the Google Earth plug-in API online.

I work for an organisation with a commercial licence for Google Maps, and we use the Google Earth plug-in for one minor part of a web-based application (for the rest, we use the GMaps JavaScript API which is fine).  We've noticed some instability in the GE plug-in on some browsers in recent months.

Is the platform still being actively tested and developed and will it be supported across all popular desktop browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox) into the future?

Thanks in advance,

Tom Lynch

I would like to add my voice here. It is incredible that this question has been out there for years but no one from Google cares to address it. I personally think its because they have no idea what is happening, given the dependence of their division to the larger Maps division now. Sad, because I think Earth is unique and wonderful and should be developed to perform independently from Maps. Earth Builder, yeah! Maps Engine, nah...
