How can I count and display the total of current placemarkers for a country?

since i thought that was the Google Earth API.

I have a dynamic Google earth map displayed in web page using the
Google earth plugin.
the kml file loaded to the google earth contain placemarkets that
displayed on the map.

my questions:
1) how can i count the spots and display a calculated number for each
country?
for example, if UK have 6 spots on the map i want to display the
number 6 in the country area.
i want to do it only for countries that have spots on the map. if a
country don't have spots in their territory than i don't want to
display a number.
2) how can i display an icon near the number of the counts for each
country?
i want to display an icon only for countries that have spots in their
territory.
3) how can i put different icons for each count?
for example, if the number is between 1-10 display icon#1, if the
number is between 11-20 display icon#2 and so on..

source codes, links or references for similar projects in the web will
be appreciated.
