Hello Forum

I am using DFP API (Java client library) to upload ads consisting of just one jpg image, and that works fine.

Now I would like to extend this to HTML5 creatives. We have creatives, which are built in Adobe Edge Animate, and compressed to a single zip file.

Is there a way to upload such a creative? And which type of creative should be chosen?

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi,

You will need to use a customCreative. Each file has to be uploaded as a customCreativeAsset, and then have the main HTML be in the htmlSnippet. The HTML that is output by Adobe needs to be edited to add the appropriate macros for your assets and for click tracking. This Java sample code from our client library might help.

Thanks,

Thank you very much for your prompt response!
I will delve into your example and possibly return.

Hello again,

I was able to run the example that you provided, which is good.

However, this example assumes a flat file structure, which is not what Edge Animate provides. E.g. the contents of the .zip file containing the HTML5 ad could contain subdirectories for javascript files and images (see attached example).

Is it possible to replicate this structure within DoubleClick? Or do I have to flatten the structure first, possibly having to change generated javascript code etc.?

Once again thanks in advance!

Hi,

Unfortunately, DFP does not support structuring of the files. You will need to flatten the files and do the restructuring at your end.

Hello Tesfamichael Hailegeorgis

Once again thanks for your quick answer!

Having to flatten the files will require some extra work to be done on our side. Initially, we had thought that you would be able to just upload the .zip file and let DoubleClick handle it.

Have you had any thought on extending the API with functionality like described above?

Thank you in advance,
Claus Moltke-Leth

Hi,

This looks like more of a product behavior question rather than DFP SOAP API specific question, please post it on the product forum as they are better suited to address product specific questions.

Thanks,

Hello again

I ran into a lot of problems when I had to substitute references to JavaScript and image files with the placeholders used in DoubleClick.

This was not so much because I had to "flatten" the file structure, but rather because there was not only references to files in the main html page, but also within the JavaScript files. There seems to be no easy way around that, am I right?

Instead, I have started exploring another strategy. I have uploaded the html5 ad to our own web server, and created a third party creative, that direct towards our web server (which is "third party" in this context). So far it looks promising, but I would like to hear your opinion on this.

Thank you!

Hi,

This is getting beyond the scope of the SOAP API. I'd suggest posting in the product forum since this is a product-level issue at this point.

Thanks,
