I'm looking for a way to retrieve a named 'targeting preset' from within the API (com.google.api.ads.dfp.v201203).

For example: I have a defined targeting preset named 'foobar' which I want all newly created lineitem's to be associated with.

I 'assume' there is a service interface that lists all the preset's, but I can't find anything in the documentation or examples.

Many thanks, in advance.

Hi,

There is currently no support for targeting presets in the API.  The reason behind this is someone using the API would have already have a code path to create targeting and saved expressions would not offer much benefit.  It may also be confusing as to what will happen if those presets are ever updated.  It's probably more reliable as an API developer to have logic that creates targeting rather than rely on presets.

Hi Jeff.

Your reply makes sense, but there is a real need to at least list the targeting presets so that perhaps we can import them and then re-create that targeting in the lineitem.

The reason is simple, if a publisher has spent a lot of time setting up targeting presets (say for groups of cities in their local country where DFP doesn't fully support their regions), then it will be a pain for 3rd party software to have to ask the publisher to re-input those presets.

We currently have a large international DFP customer that this feature would say a huge amount of work.

Hi Roy,

Thanks for your feedback and providing your use case.  Let me pass this onto the team as a feature request but unfortunately, I do not have an ETA for it.

Thanks,
