Creative Asset Preview URL

Hi all,

Does anyone know if it's possible to retrieve a preview URL for an asset uploaded via the API?  Not sure if a preview URL exists, but perhaps a link to the image that does not count towards impressions and is simply used to display what has been uploaded.  I see that a URL is returned when uploading an asset in the API, but that appears to be volatile and disappears after some time.

Hi Peter,

There's currently no way to create a permanent preview URL. Our
website UI shows previews using the same volatile preview URLs that
the API returns in saveCreativeAsset.

A less than stellar option if you're really stuck is to retrieve the
asset and save it again unmodified, thus returning a new preview URL.
This creates a lot of wasted traffic so I would advise against doing
it unless absolutely necessary.

This would be a nice feature to have at some point. I'll pass it
along.

Unfortunately there are no updates for this issue. Aside from using the (not recommended) workaround described earlier in this thread, there is no way to retrieve this info from the API.

Nothing has changed here, unfortunately. It's on the team's radar, but demand for this functionality is relatively low, so it's not likely to be prioritized in the near future.

We have a hard requirement to show the creative preview within our web app, either inline or popup/window, and after some research we found this thread. It's been few months already and it would be great if you could provide some status like when the preview URL will be available via api, so we can fulfill our customer requirements.

There are no updates to share, unfortunately. Demand for creative preview functionality via the API remains very low and is not currently on the roadmap. If this is something you'd really like to see added, your best bet is to get in touch with your DCM account manager to have them file a feature request on your behalf.

Doubtful that this will have any influence based on Jonathan's latest comments, but I wanted to chime in that I am also interested in creative preview functionality via the API.  Thanks!

Demand by our customers is very high, and it means that reporting applications like ours need to revert to sophisticated hacks to get this information for our customers. 

A straightforward API would make for a more robust solution.

I find it shocking that we can't get a simple url to the image/video/etc creatives for creating a "top n" report with thumbnails for example. I was frantically going through the API documentation trying to find exactly that and then decided to perform a google search. You guys from support and probably even the product and developer team probably don't realize how important this is, otherwise you'd likely have taken care of the issue a long time ago. I'm disappointed but after seeing what a mess most of the google APIs are, not too surprised. I suppose this will never be addressed, so that's what I'll be reporting to our board
