Can someone please explain what DFA 6 and DFA 7 are? What are their relationships to the latest DFA API v1.20?

Hey Wei,

DFA7 should be called by its proper name, DDMM (DoubleClick Digital Marketing Manager). DDMM is an upcoming enhancement to DFA. Everyone's accounts will eventually be migrated over from DFA to DDMM. When this upgrade occurs, there will be a new UI but we have taken steps to make the API as similar as possible. There are some changes customers will have to be aware of - for example, in the DDMM API, your tokens returned from the login service's authenticate method will expire after a set amount of time, currently 24 hours - but overall very little is changing and your applications should migrate almost effortlessly.

Both current versions of the DFA API, v1.19 and v1.20, will continue to work once your account is upgraded to DDMM. The API will still be accessible from the same URLs.

Cheers,

When can I read more about DDMM?

What is the time frame for DDMM release? When do you think we have to move to DDMM? Is there any beta release that we can test?

Hey Wei,

Right now, the DoubleClick for Advertisers blog is the best place to get information on DDMM. See: http://doubleclickadvertisers.blogspot.com/search/label/doubleclick%20digital%20marketing This is the product's blog, which has more information about our goals here than the API blog.

We're upgrading customers over time. A sales or account representative will be contacting each customer when it comes time to start planning the date of their upgrade. They'd also be the best resource for estimating when your account(s) will come up.

As for testing against DDMM... we are willing to upgrade customer's test environment accounts on request if they'd like to try using DDMM. This is a reversible process. If/when you'd like us to upgrade your test account, you can contact me and we will flip the switch.

Cheers,

One more question, does DDMM API have different URLs than DFA API? If my application points to the current DFA API v1.20, can some of our accounts move to DDMM and others stay with DFA for now?

Hi Wei,

The API will be at the same URL. Your application should work for both accounts which have been migrated and those which have not. Keep in mind that upgraded accounts do not connect to ReportCentral any longer, so you will not be able to use the report service for them. (It will still work using the same URL for pre-upgrade accounts)

Will Reporting API still work? Is there a ReportCentral replacement?

Hi Wei,

The DFA Reporting API is the go-to reporting API for the future. It works with both pre-upgrade and post-upgrade accounts. I believe you can still use the old Java DART API to query ReportCentral, but it will only contain your historical data. We won't be importing new metrics into ReportCentral past the upgrade.

Hey Jeff,

This thread touches on a bunch of the changes (or things that don't change). There's a few additional changes such as UserListGroups no longer being used, but really nothing that most users will have problems with.
