reports.compatibleFields - 500 UNKNOWN error?

Hello,

I've been trying to implement the use of reports.compatableFields (https://developers.google.com/doubleclick-advertisers/rest/v4/reports.compatibleFields/query) to check a profile's report's compatible fields against a provided list of dimensions/metrics.

It works well locally on some users, but I pushed the code changes to staging to test against different customer's credentials and I noticed this call is causing a 500 UNKNOWN error for some reason. Other profile IDs from this same customer are working correctly.

Any Idea what the error might mean?

Example:

Running it on profile ID 5462817,
with report: { "type": "STANDARD" }

and I get the following error:
{"code"=>500, "message"=>"Unknown Error.", "errors"=>[{}], "status"=>"UNKNOWN"}

To better assist you with your concern, could you please provide us with the necessary details to help us investigate further? Specifically, we would need the following information:

  • DCM Account ID: You can find this under your profile icon in the Campaign Manager 360 UI, or in the Account section under the Admin drop-down.
  • The Profile ID used during the API request.
  • URL endpoint request with the path param values.
  • The complete API JSON request and response showing the issue/error.

@phillip, I think it's hitting a rate limit or something, but not returning an error code regarding rate limits. I put a sleep(20) between the two calls I was making and it made the issue subside more or less.

@DCM, I'll respond Monday with that info.
