Thanks for reaching out! You're right, there was a Python script quite a few years ago that could send out a fake BidRequest to a bidder application and then show the ad from your response via a simple locally-hosted web application. You're also correct that it was deprecated; it had a lot of maintainability issues and arguably didn't do it's job very well because it poorly simulated real bid requests--it would simply send whatever you specified, which might be quite different than a bid request sent by our exchange. The requester tool was used in the early days for bidders integrating with our exchange, but was deprecated shortly after we introduced a testing mode that sends a lower volume of requests that are automatically filtered.
In the event that you're interested in entering testing mode, you should reach out to your Technical Account Manager if you have one assigned, or alternatively contact them via this form .
