We were logging Google's BidRequests and noticed that, for all web-based inventory in the Google BidRequest, the site.page URL value does not include the query string after the '?'.

Is there any way to receive the query string in the site.page field of the BidRequest?

Hello,

This sounds like it is working as intended–the BidRequest.site.page field in Google's OpenRTB implementation is equivalent in behavior to the Google RTB protocol's BidRequest.url, which excludes parameters. I am not aware of any field in the bid request that would return these query parameters. What use-case do you have that requires them?

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

Of course, we understand that Google's BidRequest is functioning properly.
We would like to inquire whether excluding the query string from the site.page value in Google's BidRequest is part of Google's policy.
Additionally, we would like to ask if there are any alternative methods to receive the query string.

Our platform uses the query string in site.page for detailed targeting purposes.

Thanks.

Hello,

Policy questions deviate from the scope of this support forum, but it is safe to say that this behavior has been consistent since introduced in the Google RTB protocol's BidRequest.url field. It was later adapted into our OpenRTB implementation as-is, but it is not known to me whether any consideration was made regarding whether or not to extend the URL to include query string parameters, or if the behavior was simply duplicated.

There aren't any fields that return the query string parameters of the visited site. I'm not familiar with what parameters you might be interested in using for targeting, but it is possible that there may be alternatives within the bid request itself. If you could elaborate one what those would be, I could investigate further. If there's a compelling use-case for one or more of the parameters you're referring to, and it is not currently supported, I could raise it to the engineering team in a feature request.
