Read only access to Google Contacts?

Hi,

We are using OAuth2/Contacts API to import email addresses to our
system.
We're using scope "https://www.google.com/m8/feeds/".

When the OAuth2 consent window is displayed it mentions "View and
manage your Google Contacts".

All we really need is "view" access and it looks like the message
above
is putting some users off. Is it possible to request read-only scope
for Google Contacts?

I've been trying to use this scope, but I can't make it work with https://www.google.com/m8/feeds/contacts/default/full to get the user's contact list, it replays with "HTTP/1.0 401 Token invalid - AuthSub token has wrong scope"

Should I use other service?

Are there any plans to add a read only scope in the contacts API version 3.0?

In the documentation there is only the read/write scope : https://www.google.com/m8/feeds.

As suggested above it would give users more confidence; it does not make sense to have a write permission if you do not need it anyways.

Me too. I want this read only permission.

I think user is much more likely to approve a request to access contacts that to grant permission " View and manage your Google Contacts"

I personally would not grant permission to manage my contacts but may grant permission to read my contacts.
