We are looking for an Application Architect, . The role is a 6 month+ contract role in Boston, MA.

 

Job Description

• Will be a member of the project architecture team to define, design and promote best practices and standard solutions.
• Will work with project teams, vendors, support organizations, functional architects, systems specialists and other technical resources.
• Will work with the Enterprise Architects and be responsible for the architecture dispensations, defining-designing-delivering the technical architecture, technical quality, fitness for purpose and operability of technical architecture solutions.
• Will also manage technical risks, as well as plan and execute architectural quality assurance processes.
• Will be responsible for technical presentations demonstrating a good understanding of application, data, infrastructure, architecture expertise and application systems design.
• Will mentor development teams in the design and implementation of solutions
• Will help establish methodologies for software development life cycle

 

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic input for complex initiatives. While understanding the business priorities the architect must be forward thinking in developing ideas and solutions that support the medium and long term goals of the business to give it a competitive edge.
• Foster teamwork and a spirit of collaboration among team members both onshore and offshore as well as with business partners while conveying a sense of urgency and responsiveness to meet business needs.
• Proactively resolve barriers and issues that get in the way of achieving short-term and long-term goals.
• Working with enterprise level architects and making decisions regarding technical approaches for local project development
• Provide guidance and lead resolution of technical issues as they arise
• Lead the creation of detailed technical designs (define-design-implement architecture solutions) 
• Lead and influence through example and results.

Qualifications:

• 8-10+ years of software development experience, including implementation of enterprise solutions in a J2EE environment. Proficiency with the Java programming language, detailed experience with OOD and Modeling, and knowledge of Unix / Linux environments is required.
• Extensive technology knowledge and recognized expertise in several areas. Our current environment includes Java, J2EE, Tomcat, Oracle, Linux and emerging thin-client technologies like AJAX, Flex, Silverlight, HTML5 etc.
• Possess outstanding OOAD skills with demonstrated ability to influence and lead design decisions.
• Expertise in J2EE/Java technologies, including Spring, Hibernate, and iBatis is required.
• Solid experience in SOA with web services and RESTful systems
• Strong SDLC experience using Maven, Hudson/Jenkins, CI with Agile Methodologies.
• Experience with establishing technical strategy and architecture at an enterprise level is preferred; awareness of both current and developing technologies.
• Strategic thinking skills. Strong organizational leadership capabilities with an understanding of business and competitive environments. 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to lead cross-company collaboration and partnerships.
• Ability to multi-task across many large initiatives.
• Strong client focus and results orientation.
• Experience in mentoring developers in best practices and software methodologies.
• Asset Management / Financial knowledge desired
