How to Retrieve/Update Custom Fields Using api ?

In gmail I can add custom fields to contacts. But when i try to
retrieve such contact using api in that feed there was not any field
of such type(custom field). So, I want to know that can anyone help me
to get the such custom field using api. Currently m using python
library 2.14 of gdata api.

For the Python client library, please make sure to use the one available from the repository as many fixes have been pushed but not packaged into a release yet: http://code.google.com/p/gdata-python-client/source/checkout

For custom fields added by users in the Contacts Manager, have a look at the gContact:userDefinedField:
