What more do you need than a source code repository for continuous
integration?

The flow I expect is

"Get latest every so often"
"if its changed do a build"
"produce a report somewhere and trigger any other stuff as necessary"

this requires nothing server-side and lets you do anything you could
possibly want in
terms of continuous integration... or am I missing something?

Jherko, yes, you can do it yourself now. This issue is more about making it
easy for every project to do
easily and to present the results in a uniform way.

You can use CloudBees CI (Jenkins) for your CI. For OSS project the service
is for free. I successfully did this in my OSS project:
https://code.google.com/p/extra-standard

So, no need to move to GitHub just because of this. And GitHub also does
not support you in CI, you need to add CloudBees for this thing...
