Compress files in google cloud storage

Hi,

I have a set of files around 60 of them with sizes around 5-10 GB each in google storage bucket.

Is it possible to compress these files within the storage bucket (without downloading locally & then compressing & reupload) so that i can sign the compressed file and share with client?  

If yes please let me know the method which is cost effective with some code examples.

Hello,

There’s currently no way to compress files while they are in a Cloud Storage bucket. You would need to compress the files before uploading or overwrite them as compressed files.

However, I believe this would make for great feedback to the Cloud Storage engineering team in the form of a feature request which you can submit using this link.
