Cannot connect to memorystore from GKE

I created a cluster with ip alias:

`gcloud  container clusters create testcluster --enable-ip-alias --create-subnetwork name=test-cluster-subnet --cluster-version 1.10.2-gke.0 --preemptible --zone us-central1-b`

Memorystore is running with ip 10.0.0.3 on us-central1-b

But I cannot connect to the ip through pods:

`kubectl run -i --tty busybox --image=busybox -- sh`

 `telnet 10.0.0.3 6379`

But I can telnet through instance in the same region.

Any idea? Thanks.

Hi,

Did you try the steps in https://cloud.google.com/memorystore/docs/redis/connecting-redis-instance#connecting-cluster

For clusters 1.8+ you need to enable IP alias.

Hi,

After the telnet command do you simply observe a blank screen? Or does it actively disconnect? If the former, try typing 'PING' and hitting enter and seeing if you receive a '+PONG' response. Telnet behaves a little weird in that it doesn't give you a command prompt or any feedback after it connects so it appears as if nothing is happening. Alternatively, instead of telnet, could you try 'echo ping | netcat 10.0.0.3 6379' and see whether that returns '+PONG'?
