Basic Authentication for Cloud Storage Files

Is there a way to implement Basic Auth or something similar to access a Google Cloud Storage File?  Our devices send a GET command to download files which we would like to protect using USERNAME and PASSWORD.  Can't figure out a way to do this in Google Cloud.
