Hi all, while looking at my billing report for the current month, I see a significant amount of charge mentioned as "Network Egress via Carrier Peering Network - APAC Based" next to Compute Engine.

My current infrastructure involves the following components :

1. App Engine : To Ingest requests and forward them to PubSub
2. PubSub : Accept incoming events from App Engine and forward them to Dataflow
3. Dataflow : Accept events from PubSub and load them into BigQuery using File load.

All the resources are located in asia-northeast1 region.

Based on the documentation for compute Engine and GCS, the ingress and egress cost to and from products in the same region should be free, so why am I being charged for this?

Thanks a ton!

Hello,

From your message, it seems that you are charged or traffic through carrier peering. However, it's not clear whether you send traffic from your GCP resources to your on-prem or not. It appears that you have been charged for carrier peering which requires some sign up to get reduced rates as per this document[1].

So, could you please confirm whether you send egress traffic. Otherwise, you could open a billing case for further assistance. Just to note that Billing support[2]  and read-only access to break/fix cases are Free by Basic Role-Based Support.
