Does GCP has any module for backup and disaster recovery ?

I am working in backup and disaster recovery domain and i have got opportunity for training from google on GCP through coursera. I have done training on Google cloud associate but i do not found any discussion on backup and disaster recovery.

Backup and DR is very important. I have got some links which is just for backup of resources of GCP and that also do not have much information.

How the backup happening in GCP ? Do they have any module for it ?

How the backup of onpremises workload happening? I do not find anything for it.

Does google has any tool for backup or we have to use any 3rd party vendor tool which will cost us aditional license?

Please share your inputs. I want to enhance my skills on GCP backup domain for future opportunities.

Hi Mohammad,

Backup is done differently depending on the product.

As for Disaster Recovery, we have this detailed article[1] from our Solutions documentation that explains how DR is done on Google Cloud

So there is no tool from google to use to backup on premise workload.. We have to depend of other vendors?

Hi Elliott,

I am looking for some information about backups as i am working in backup domain. What option is there for me to learn in GCP. I refer workloads as vmware/hyper-V VM environment, physical servers and NAS data exist onpremises and others.

Please share if you have anything or is there any plan in future to backup these system in GCP without using backup tool from any other vendors.

If you wan to perform your own Backups for your VM Instances, there are solutions to keep VM Instances data safe and backup. The most common backup solution for VM Instances is via "Creating Persistent Disk Snapshots". Another option is Backing Up data to Google Cloud Storage using Cloud Tools for PowerShell. Additionally, Cloud Storage(you can use it for a range of scenarios including serving website content, storing data for archival and disaster recovery) is the HA, affordable solution for backup, archival and disaster recovery(details are provided here).
