Hello & Happy New Year!

I was wondering how often the gcloud cloud builder official image is updated? I am attempting to use the Secret Manager beta functionality, which works locally with the latest google-cloud-sdk, but is not present in the cloud builder.

Local relevant versions:
Google Cloud SDK 275.0.0
beta 2020.01.03

Cloud Builder relevant versions:
Google Cloud SDK 272.0.0
beta 2019.05.17

Any recommendation?  Thanks & regards.

Thanks Stano!

That's basically as I expected - I will build and use my own image for the time being.

Best,
Nora

Hello Nora,

for the proper answer you should wait from someone more involved, as the Dockerfile in the GoogleCloudPlatform/cloud-builders git repo https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/cloud-builders/blob/master/gcloud/Dockerfile is not pinned to any specific versions.

I only write, if it's critical for you, you can build your own docker image from the ^^ Dockerfile and use this image in your GCB step if you can live with an non-official image. This should help you to workaround the missing functionality until the gcloud image is rebuilt.

HTH,

Stano

The gcr.io/cloud-builders/gcloud image is built daily and pinned to our releases so it's updated whenever we can get a new release into production. The :latest tag is set to the release version on the workers.

You can always use the newest image by manually pulling the gcloud image before you intend to use it or you can explicitly reference a digest:

Google Cloud SDK 275.0.0

You can find the list of digests by navigating to gcr.io/cloud-builders/gcloud
