Hello!
Austin Community College thrives on student participation in driving the next phase of higher education and training needs. Instructors at community colleges often have many other hats (jobs) than just those worn on campus leaving them minimal time to take on large projects outside their syllabus. ESPECIALLY in the IT Departments. That is why I am driving this effort myself.

I am hoping to be an administrator/owner of a Google Cloud Focus Point Project at ACC. Google Cloud Platform Products not only offer resources for education and training on Google Platforms but also the tools to use in collaboration with other students as we build new projects and push the envelope during the next six+ months of Web Developer Bootcamp.

Although not an instructor, I am hoping to lead this effort at obtaining Grant Credits for GCP tools/solutions that act both as education tools AND to drive collaboration efforts for the bootcamp students as a group.

This is a great opportunity for Google to get a larger presence in the Austin Community College system. I personally was astounded to not find Austin Community College in the list of institutions at Internet2. Nor did I find a Google Presence in our IT Areas of Study list.

Please help me bring GCP to ACC!

Best Regards,

Richard Arnett

Also, I am pursuing this path as a student since I can't get qualified for the Trial Period. I only have/use a prepaid debit card and it is not accepted in the payment section. Nor is the routing/checking account accepted for the same reason.

Hello Richard,

I am glad that there are students like yourself who are enthusiastic in using the platform for educational purposes. As you mentioned and per this FAQ “Only faculty members who are teaching courses which meet the requirements” can apply for the Google Cloud Platform Education Grants program. Hence, and for further help, you may contact sales as they are more knowledgeable about the subject.

Answering your last question, and per this document, Prepaid cards and Virtual Credit Cards (VCCs) are not accepted as methods of payments. However, and per the same document you may instead set up a bank account as a primary funding source. Since you mentioned you are having trouble with adding it to your billing account, you may check this document for how to verify your bank account (may take up to 10 days or use instant verification).  I hope this helps.

Hi Fady and thank you. I will contact sales. As for the verification step... There is no verify NOW choice. The help menu still gives instructions to process that way, but it does not exist. The only choice you have is VERIFY. Those instructions need to be updated.

Hopefully sales will take my request seriously with the faculty unwilling to pursue this in their limited time.

Thanks again.

Hello Richard,

I have reported the document as to be reviewed per you suggestion. You may always report document issues from the same page by clicking the “send feedback” link. On the other hand, if the bank verification is always failing, it could be a limitation set by the bank itself, and I suggest checking with them.  If that is not the case, you may try contacting Google Cloud Platform billing support as they are more equipped to help.
