Hello!

I was trying to find out the rate limit of writing logs that can be ingested by Cloud Monitoring (Logs-based metrics).

The limit for Cloud Logging API Log ingestion requests per minute is 60,000.

Would Cloud Monitoring be able to handle that?

Also, seems like I can increase the Cloud Logging limit so would Cloud Monitoring scale fine too?

Regards,

Jai

Hello,

As specified in the docs [1], you can see the quotas and limits of Cloud Monitoring in the API Dashboard [2]
Some limits can indeed be raised from the API Dashboard itself

Hi Jose,

I had come across monitoring docs [1] before. But it only has the limits for custom metrics.
(eg: Rate at which data can be written to a single time series: one point each 10 seconds)

I was looking for monitoring limits for log-based metrics. Specifically, how many logs per seconds can logs-based metrics handle.

Regards,

Jai

Hello Jai,

According to the doc [1], Custom metrics uses the same elements that the built-in Cloud Monitoring metrics use.

Doing further research on your issue, I couldn’t find reference specific to your query. However, you may find this documents [2],[3] helpful to get a better understanding.
