So why did I get an email supposedly from payments...@google.com asking me to change the credit card used to fund my Google Cloud Platform?

This email went on to claim that my credit card last (4 numbers shown) would be expiring soon.

Looking at the headers gave me little comfort as they seemed to be kosher (Received: from mail-sor-f41.google.com (mail-sor-f41.google.com. [209.85.220.41]) by mx.google.com with SMTPS id )

However when I looked at my Google account I saw that the credit card shown in that email was not the card that was actually listed to pay the GCP account?

Only Google know why such emails are being sent but it does mean I will be paying lees attention to future Google emails (or consign them to spam with the rest of the phishing emails)

Hello,

You can contact GCP Billing Support about this issue.

Thanks sha.., I did exactly that, unfortunately, all avenues there led to an automated chatbot and after asking the questions I was informed that I might try this forum. So here I am. I have deactivated all apps (10) that are associated with my Cloud account and I will see if I can contact the Gsuite support to get an answer.

Thanks again for your kind suggestion.
