March 2016 Version of Chrome Not Working

I got a notification from Chrome saying that a new version was available. I downloaded it, and suddenly it would not work on my laptop.

I have a Macbook Pro running OS X 10.6.8. It seems that my OS should support Chrome. What's the deal? Should I download the previous version of Chrome? If so, how?
