Editing index.html from sources generally NOT possible

I'm trying to edit files in devtools (tried linux and osx beta version 33.....) and in both cases I am blocked from making edits to the file most of the time, although I can edit .css files (as you can see the .css file been edited).

I'm very confused as the Code School course made this seem easy to do

Code School’s tutorial let’s you install a Chrome extension. Did you do that?

Yes, but editing doesn't work with or without it :-(

Basically I seem to be able to edit css and js files, but not the html ones - this is weird

Without the use of "workspaces" feature, DevTools only supports editing JS and CSS files. That's because we can patch CSS and JavaScript live without reloading the page. Since reloading off the edit buffer is hard, we don't allow editing HTML.
