A while ago (don't know the exact version) the devtools allowed me to change a color in RGB that was authored for example as a named color.
I shift-clicked on the color preview square until RGB was shown and started editing by double-clicking.
But some time ago (around the time the color picker was introduced) the behavior changed. Now when I double-click on the color it's always the authored version that's being edited.
As an example: I have created a color in RGB and then realize that it's a little too dark. What I used to do is to shift-click on the preview square to show the color in HSL and then edit the brightness before showing it as RGB again and saving. But now I have to show in HSL, copy the color, double-click, insert the HSL color, edit it, change back to RGB, copy the color again and then finally paste it.
I initially thought this was a bug that was going to be fixed quickly but the behavior is still the same.
I'm aware of the color format setting but it's not what I'm after. I don't want to switch globally but switch between styles for each CSS style, per default showing them as authored.
Is there a logical reason for this that I missed or is it simply a bug? I couldn't find anything on the web about it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Thomas
