MS silverlight stopped working on google chrome

I'm running chrome: Version 42.0.2311.90 m (64-bit)

all of the sudden, from one day to the next, silverlight plugin stopped working on chrome.

(I did not update my system, or anything of this sort...unless of course silverlight updated itself

- it does not appear under chrome:plugins)

It still works on opera.  What happened?

This group discusses the Developer Tools feature of Google Chrome and not general web development issues.

NPAPI (the feature that makes Silverlight work on Chrome) is no longer supported by default and will be completely removed in September. Use a search engine to find more about this.
