How to switch to vertical layout?

I see in the videos how you can use a vertical layout to position the inspector window side by side vertically with the inspected page. 

In my chrome I can only see it below the current page, horizontally placed.

Can someone please let me know how to change it to vertical layout?

self-reply: it is the little double square at the bottom left corner to detach the window. 

Why is it that one has to ask a question to find himself the answer?

Here is another answer for you: you can also click the gear icon in devtools (bottom right corner) and choose "Dock to right". That way you get docked experience with vertical layout.

however ... I cannot find that gear in the bottom right corner ... screenshot attached . Am I blind?

Hey, I`m not sure if you got this issue fixed, but I found a solution as I was looking to open the developer tools on the right as well. 

In the bottom left of your screenshot you will see a button that opens the developer tools in another window. If you click and hold that icon, you will see an option to dock to the right. Drag your cursor over the dock to the right icon that appeared so that it is highlighted. and there you go it should be docked to the right now.
