Is there a way to filter out all the 'poll' and 'send' entries in Network tab?

I don't use these entries and it is sometimes a pain to go through looking for the stuff I do need.  I can get rid of them by filtering out the XHR stuff, but then I loose the entries I do use (the ones that show what the web page is doing).

You can use the filter text field. By prepending a minus sign to your query, it will negate it.
So if you put there, for example -
-send?transport
It should filter those out. Be as specific as possible, however, as any other entries that contain the string will also be filtered.
