Hi everyone,

Bit of an odd one and somewhat technical, but I've noticed a lot of very experienced people here and thought I might give it a shot!

Have created a post in the google chrome support forums here:

Basically, none of our standard intranet links for school work in the google Chrome browser. they use a "file:/// " link to get to documents on a mapped drive. Unfortunately Google Chrome blocks these link styles. Rather than re-making our school intranet page I did a bit of research and there is an extension that works and fixes the problem when it's installed.

I can force it's deployment to all chrome browsers at school using group policy and that works fine. Except it overrides and removes all the user apps and extensions that were deployed through GAFE :(. So I end up with just this one extension and everything else is gone, tried logging out and in again makes no difference.

I could deploy this extension through GAFE but not everyone logs into Chrome and I'd really like it to be on every PC.

Any help would be much appreciated, and apologies if this doesn't really fit in what this group is for.

Thanks,
Andrew

Andrew,

IMO the best long term solution is to put the documents into your Intranet and access them from there.

One solution I've used that might help your situation in the short term was to have an SMB share that was also accessible by FTP. That way I could drop files in the folder as a network share and then the students could point their browser to the FTP site for access.

Regards,

Antony
