Good evening group members,

I have a student who uses an email account provided from our domain.
His mother informed me that unauthorised family members are emailing him.
I can't block their addresses because - they change it continuously.
Mum would like me to change his email address - without losing the 198 docs he has in his drive.
What is the best way to achieve this???

good morning
I would create a new email address and migrate the data when deleting the original one.
Depending on if your login credentials are created and synchronized from your SMS you will have to change them too...

I would also limit the incoming email domains to the school and a short list of known authorised contacts.

I generally create a organisation within the school called restricted.. that has these settings.. because often you will end up with more than 1 kid in this situation..

I assume that this is a G-Suite account? If so you can change the e-mail address in the system relatively easily. Create a new alias for starters for the new address for example then go from there.

One can change the username (and email address) of the user, then delete the alias that is created for the old email address.

Does the student need contact to the outside world via email?
We run our primary with the policy to just allow internal emails so the Gsuites tools work and teachers can communicate with students but not emails from outside.

We make groups in our google domain.  One group is for most and has open email.  One only allows emails within our domain.  One doesn’t allow email at all.  If we have a parent issue or child abusing the system we put them in the appropriate domain.

It all depends on what your school expects students to use their email for.

Contact with the outside world for us as a High School is well utilised but within a primary school setting....maybe not.

Will be interested to see the responses to this thread.

We use a quarantine and compliance settings for stopping email from a specified gmail address and also a specified domain getting delivered to a certain student. When I get notified of any messages hitting the quarantine, I just forward the information on to the staff member who asked for the block to be put in place and they decide what happens next.

You could theoretically block ALL inbound messages fort a student this way except certain specified addresses and/or domains.
