I was looking for any ideas on web based apps that could be used when working on a Chromebook connected to a Commbox or SmartBoard. Our teachers currently use Windows devices loaded with Chalkbox and Smart Notebook. I'd love to eventually transition them to using a Chromebook but need an equivalent app for productivity.
Has anyone achieved this?

Chrome does support touch displays (internal). It is possible to support external.

Would need to check interoperability of CommBox for USB connection.

Smart Learning Suite only supports Windows and Mac for the board/display connected device. Lessons can be shared to other types of devices.

G-Suite, Evernote, Ziteboard, Office 365 and Jamboard and other apps do give some interactivity.
You can use a touch Chromebook to do the interactivity and then all you need is a display. Cabled or cast.

Hi Graeme,

While your post is from last year, we thought we would update everyone on the new technology in this area from Google.

Google have released a new product that allows collaboration at the front of the Classroom. Jamboard is our exciting new collaboration board that allows anyone to collaborate both in the classroom and outside of the school premises.
We also have a Jamboard Android as well as a web based app that allows similar functionalities and connects with the session at the front of the classroom. To find out more please visit our Jamboard teacher centre page

We also have a product called Cast For Education that allows any student in the room to cast their screen to the teachers device. If the teachers devices is connected to a smartboard or screen then this can be projected as well.
To find out more visit our Cast for Education information page

A majority of Chromebook education devices are built with touch screens and even more are starting to support stylus interaction.

We hope this helps with your question.
