I have the most recent version of ZenCart and the Google Checkout
module set up on my site having a problem with the zencart
confirmation emails.

1. Google Checkout is my only payment option.
2. I am able to process transactions in sandbox.
3. Transactions are appearing in both Google Checkout and the Zen Cart
Admin. Inventory is subtracting correctly.
4. A new customer account is being created based on the information
entered into Google checkout.
5. Google Checkout is sending confirmation emails to both the customer
and the admin.

However, zen cart is:
1. Not sending an email to the customer email address
2. Not sending a confirmation email to the admin.
3. Not send an email confirming the account creation.

I tried another test:

I enabled Check/Money order checkout and processed and order through
it. Zen-Cart successfully sent email to the customer and to the Admin

So I think the email configuration is set up properly.

I have browsed thru entire forum for an answer...but no luck.

Appreciate if experts can guide me through a resolution.

I'd be interested in hearing the answer to this since I was never able to get Zen Cart to generate an email.  However, the Zencart order number was appended to the Google Checkout email and Google Checkout generated an email with the Zencart login information.  You can set Google to send a confirmation to the Admin.  The Google process seems to take the place of the Zencart process entirely.

In ZC admin you need to have set-up in the GC payment mod config:

1. The mod does NOT send a copy of CREATE ACCOUNT (Welcome) or NEW
ORDER (Order Confirmation) messages to ZC admin.

2. Customer is sent a CREATE ACCOUNT (Welcome) email message. (but
I've observed instances this to be not necessarily the case, appears
to depend on if a hard goods or soft goods order. I have not looked at
the logic as not a priority to me. YMMV).

3. Customer is NOT sent a NEW ORDER (Order Confirmation) email from
ZC. (this I'm not delighted but mod developer insisted a GC policy,
and a related technical issue, which only allowed a "new order" email
could be sent from GC. There is some logic to this if you follow the
process flow.)

4. But customer is sent a "Purchase Receipt for Order" message
delivered from GC.

5. Customer and admin does receive ORDER STATUS (Order Update) email
messages from ZC.

#4 and #5 above are what's most important. Again YMMV.

I am not receiving emails or notifications from ZC....I only receive
from Google...what areas should I look for inorder to troubleshoot.

FYI: send notifications under Modules>>Payments>>GoogleCheckout is
set to True

If there are steps to troublshoot...appreciate if you can
provide...thanks

What version number of ZC and which version of the GC for ZC mod are
you using? Always include that info when requesting help.

See above. In which specific circumstances are you not receiving
emails from ZC? Did you setup your ZC admin email address in ZC?

Are you testing via your GC sandbox account or via your GC live
account?

When you report you are not receiving "notifications" do you mean in
ZC admin orders page you are not observing responses/callback
notifications from GC.

(see order comments area)

What happens when you change order status from processing to "Google
Shipped".?

If not receiving notification in admin, have you set up the
responsehandler URL in your Google Checkout account? Need to set in
both your sandbox and live GC accounts. Be sure to check "XML method".

You can test your responsehandler via a Ropu's responsehandler test
too. URL for Ropu's tools is in one of the the pinned resource docs in
this discussion forum.

Check your local Google Checkout log files and also log in Google
Checkout account (sandbox or live account, whichever one you are
testing).

I believe all this info is mentioned in the docs that come with the
mod.

Responce:
After I complete a checkout I do not receive emails from Zen-cart that
an order has been received. I do receive the Google Checkout email.

Interestingly, on the other hand If I select the payment method as
Check/Money order instead of Google Checkout. I do receive emails from
Zen-cart. That means my email setup is correct in zen cart.

I am testing via sandbox though I have also entered my production
details (merchant-id, etc)in zen cart.

Responce:
The orders are getting updated in Zen-cart and I am seeing orders
being posted after google check out happens. It is only that I am NOT
receiving emails from Zen-cart when Google Checkout is used as mode of
payment.

I am encountering the exact same problem as billsnrebates, using the
exact same setup.

I am using google to manage my domain's email, i'm wondering if this
is related. Google managed email is the default for Dreamhost.

Just curious, if you change the order status in ZC is the order status
changed in GC as well? I am unable to manage orders FROM zencart.
Order status changes done in GC are passed to ZC instantly however.

I am seeing the exact same issue.

ZC 1.3.8a + GC module 1.4.7

Also, changing order status in ZC is not changing order status on GC
admin page. Changing order status in GC immediately changes the order
status in ZC however.

Host is Dreamhost, mail is managed by Google. (domain managed, not
gmail accounts)

In ZC admin : Configuration > email options what is your "Email
Transport Method". Try PHP.

Or try sendmail.

I that doesn't work for you try SMTP. (see SMTP auth options at bottom
of the above admin page).

Sorry I don't know about using Dreamhost/gmail routing. I had thought
that was a webmail component used by some ISP's and hosting companies.
Was not aware hosting companies were using gmail as outsourced vhost
mailserver infrastructure as well.

So you don't have cpanel (or similar) host account GUI where you can
set your own web host account mail service parameters?

First, thanks for your quick response, i appreciate your help.

I've tried PHP, sendmail (recommend for google managed email according
to this thread (http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?
p=275439#post277855), and smtpauth. smpthauth fails because zencart
still can't do the secure connections needed.

The thing is, I can send email from within the ZC control panel, and
non-GC orders send confirmation emails just fine. Why can't the GC
plugin use the same method?

I've even setup a third-party SMTP account and used SMTPAUTH but the
messages are still not sent.

I do have access to the DNS settings, but i don't think there's a need
to mess with that since my MX records are properly pointing to to
appropriate google mails servers.

is it normal for order changes done in ZC to not transfer to the GC
admin pages?

I've also posted at the ZC forum, i was confused as to where users are
supposed to go for help. Another user is having the same issue (http://

I was just providing pointers for you to look at. On the various hosts
I've installed the mod I have not observed the same issues as you have
reported.

My order status changes in ZC admin appear in GC fine. Are you
observing any errors in your local googlecheckout error log?

I use default PHP for ZC email universally. But when I previously
tested sendmail and SMTP in ZC message notifications via the GC mod
worked for me as well. But it has been awhile since I last tested.

You may want to check your mail logs if you have access. Maybe you
will see an error message that will help you deduce your mail delivery
issues?

I'm unsure of Dreamhost services. You may want to search the ZC
support forum to check if other users have reported host related
issues.

You may want to set-up a ZC test platform on different web host to
further test your set-up.

The original reason for this site set-up is in the mission statement.
But with Ropu not contracting to Google any longer GC mod development
is stalled and this site does not receive much traffic.

Wouldn't it be cool if ZC Dev team could integrate GC support as they
have done with PayPal. If you think so you may want to make such a
request.

The only error i saw was an intentional connection to the response
handler from a browser. "Invalid or not supported Message". Where can
i check for 'outgoing' errors
that might help me find why my order updates from ZC are not working?
Would they be in the same error log?

Yes, but as i understand it the google servers aren't (or shouldn't
be) involved since the sending is done from the ZC server and not from
the actual email server itself. I could use bi...@microsoft.com as the
store address and it's still going to work for outgoing mail, that's
why i don't understand why google managed email would be the problem.
It seems that the GC module *must* be using a different means to send
the mail. i don't get it.

It would be ideal, though i think it will greatly hinge on how much of
the world can actually use GC.
