As of Jan 31 Google is no longer funding the development or support of the
GC mod for ZC.

Longtimers have already probably noted Ropu has not been posting to the
board as of late. This past month he has been training a replacement to take
over lead development responsibilities. But it is my understanding that is
now not happening and the GC code will now be transferred back to Google HQ.
No word coming from Google on if or how they will continue to develop and/or
support the mod. At any rate Ropu and Pablo are off to tackle other
projects.

Thanks to both ropu and pablo!

So at this point there is no one, with expertise as to the overall
functionality and internal limitations of the mod code, actively supporting
the mod in this discussion group. Thus the status of this discussion forum
is now in limbo.

If anyone wants to grab the current code and continue developing the mod
and/or use this forum and discussion/support arena you are welcome to do so.
But who knows... it is possible the ZC dev team is already in liaison with
Google, and will soon be taking over mod development responsibility, as they
have done with PayPal modules. Maybe someone with deep connections can
acquire this info and report back here.

In the meantime I will keep lurking and help whenever I can.

By the way the last mod roadmap I received is as follows...

* Button placement refactor
The idea is to move the GC button to the step 2 of the regular checkout.
This will have a great advantage. NO need of merchant calculations, so no
more shipping timeout. Since all shipping, coupons and tax will be
calculated before going to the GC page. Code will be much more clean and
simple.

* Polling API
This API is meant to avoid the need of the responsehandler webService. The
idea is to have a cron or a button and you call GC asking if there are new
notifications (orders, state changes, etc). This in conjunction with the
button placement will avoid the need of a SSL certificate.

* Zencart v1.4 (php5)
We will support the new version of ZC as soon it is released. Port
everything to PHP 5, and finally deprecate the old 1.3. We want to follow
the movement to PHP 5.

* Split Shipping and NonProfit support are in the queue but with low
priority.

* Implement ideas to improve docs and the way forum info is presented.
