How to Hide Recurring Events

How does one hide recurring events on Google Calendar. Or does one
have to have an event that repeats everyday at 10am appear in that
time slot in the calendar every single day. Isn't there a way to hide
this? I'm really hoping that it's right under my nose. :-)

Please don't take this as a challenge, especially as I don't have a
lot of use for an e-calendar except to post info for others, but why
would you want to hide the item? 'I need it there but don't need to
see it there' doesn't make sense to me, but if it's a common feature,
I'm curious as to why.
