Before doing my installation I read through what I thought was all the
docs from the wiki / installation guides, etc. And followed what I
thought was the proper steps to do the installation steps. But it
seems there could be some inaccuracies with the mirage of information
on the wiki. Can someone follow this...

1 - Main page - http://code.google.com/p/google-calendar-connectors/
2 - Right Hand side under Links – Web Service Installation and
Configuration
3 - Under “For More Information” – Plug-In Installation and
Configuration Guide – takes you to this url -
http://code.google.com/p/google-calendar-connectors/wiki/PluginGuide

But according to a Consulting firm, the step 4 (Groupwise connector)
isn’t needed any longer as the sync service takes care of what it
previously provided.

If the Groupwise Connector is indeed no longer needed, then I would
have expected all the wiki docs to have been updated with a note.

For future customers, I would love to see a single doc/page/PDF that
could be printed out and has NO links just walkthrough for the
installation for the different pieces.

Jonathan,

Thanks very much for the feedback. It looks like a few details regarding the Groupwise Plugin were not removed and definitely is confusing when reading the docs.

I have started to make updates to the docs to clear up the confusion.

In regards to your question, Groupwise connector is not required.

Could you also update the Sync Service Installation and Configuration
guide (http://code.google.com/p/google-calendar-connectors/wiki/
SyncServiceGuide) to have a little more information on SchedulePlus
vs. AppointmentWriter?

Or simply update the Exchange User Mapping section. Currently it
reads:

"Each Google Calendar user must have a corresponding mail-enabled
Active Directory user, contact object or mailbox-enabled user object.
Whether you choose to map Google Apps users to contact objects or user
objects depends upon whether you have chosen the AppointmentWriter or
SchedulePlus writer for synchronizing user data."

This wording is slightly misleading, almost implying that
AppointmentWriter is required when using Contact Objects and
SchedulePlus when User Objects are used, when it's the other way
around.

Can we modify it to read this:

"Each Google Calendar user must have a corresponding mail-enabled
Active Directory user, contact object or mailbox-enabled user object.
Whether you choose to map Google Apps users to contact objects or user
objects depends upon whether you have chosen the SchedulePlus writer
or AppointmentWriter respectively, for synchronizing user data."

Or something that more accurately associates the Writer with the
Object used.

Thank you,
Dave

But otherwise, I've got the Web Service and the Sync Service working
like a champ!

Thanks Jonathan and Darrell.

David,

I have adjusted the documents per your suggestion.

We have tried to cover in the overview guide the details regarding SchedulePlus vs Appointment Writer to help you understand which option might be best for you.

We also try to outline in the configuration section for SyncService.FreeBusy.Writer the differences between SchedulePlus and Appointment Writer.

Is there something that you feel is missing here or that was not clear early enough in the process that made it hard to understand the difference between these two features?

We always appreciate the feedback and thanks for taking the time to help us make the product better for others.

Thank you.

The instructions are clear, I've just been trying to get this all to
work over the past week or two (rather frustrating), and with the
removal/omission of the GroupWise Plug-in... it all fell into place.
For a while, I was confused on the usage of the Appointment vs. the
SchedulePlus writer, but it is clear now.

Again, thank you very much.
