Event attachments via the API

I'd like to be able to associate an image or other binary with a
calendar event. I can add them as attachments via the web interface,
but I don't seem to be able to retrieve them.

While the attachments themselves are visible via the Documents List
API, that API doesn't seem to return anything about the calendars /
events they're attached to. The Calendar API doesn't return anything
about them at all.

Is it possible to retrieve event attachments via an API?

I see a few folks on v2 were looking for this support as well - anyone
on v3 still need it?
