I would like to know who may be using filters within Gmail to help
manage your content for Google Buzz. While I have some positive
experiences to share, I would like to hear from others, so that I can
learn something new. Thanks in advance for what you're willing to
share.

I use the filters quite extensively. I enjoy being able to have mail already labeled when it comes into the inbox. I like being able to send items to a certain label and not show in the inbox or show in the inbox. I know it is a small step to apply a label but in a busy day it does make for one more productivity +.

I also used filters for spam. While Google does the best job of filtering it there are still some that get thru. Being able to put keywords in a filter is a plus.

Hello Don, thanks for your response kind sir. I would probably go crazy if I didn't use Filters in Gmail. Having our messages "already labeled" definitely helps to make sense of what's coming in. When it comes to putting "keywords in a filter" in a sense makes our information my intelligent. Some time ago, I started seeing an email message as a piece of data, sitting inside the table of a database. Had it not been for SQL and other types of queries, the ability to come up with detailed reports would be a joke.

In keeping with Google Buzz I have a that I can "A-K Labels/Google Buzz" (without the quotes). Depending on the subject matter the "File Manager" in my mind's eye says "Hey file this stuff in alpha order based on some keywords." Since the letter "G" comes after A and before K, that's why it would fall under this label. In tribute to some folks who still want a "Stand Alone" version, there's a little system that I'll use:

1) Login into my Gmail account using Priority Inbox
2) Scroll down to my label for Google Buzz content
3) Press CTRL+SHIFT and click on the label
   > One message with Google Buzz content appears in a new Tab
   > Gmail is virtually invisible within this window
4) Complete the comment for the post
5) Left-click on the Google Buzz filter
   > Doing so should reveal a list of Google Buzz messages

Good evening William,

I am no where near as eloquent as you but I agree with what you said and do much of the same. I set up a filter and created a label called "buzz box" and anything containing the word "Buzz" automatically goes there. If after opening I find that rare email out of my daily Buzz's that doesn't belong there I can easily move just that one. Thanks for sharing this information with me.

Hello Don,

I definitely believe in the use of filters for Gmail. Here's a little visual that will show what my solution looks like. Though I have not yet been successful in doing so, I'm trying to make sure that all of my Gmail content receives a label/filter of some sort. That way it would definitely be easier to find stuff that I may wanna delete.
