make check failure under WSL / Xenial

'make check' fails on my Ubuntu Xenial install running under WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux).

I'm attaching my testfail.txt file.

i don't think anyone has tried build/test under WSL before.  i'm skeptical it'll pass when we rely on the coredumps generated by the kernel, or when using low level/ptrace APIs.

feel free to investigate and report back :).
