Chrome and Google Bookmarks

It can be no coincidence that the morning after Microsoft applied 'updates' that I can no longer access Chrome directly or gain access to my Bookmarks bar.  When I try to load Chrome my screen goes blank.  But if I try to access my email through Microsoft Edge then there is no problem.  All my preferences have been changed to 'Microsoft Preferences' and they have altered the settings page so that it is virtually impossible to select your own preferences.  This is what I call an attempt at MONOPOLY by Microsoft.
