Hey all.

First off, sorry for the spam that has infiltrated this group. I'll
remove them as they occur.

Secondly, there have been some new changes to the
wordpress2blogger.appspot.com site which should help fix some of the
errors that people see when trying to convert a WordPress file that is
not valid XML.

There will be an update shortly as well which increases the maximum
size of the blogger2wordpress.appspot.com site. I'm hoping to move it
up to 10M instead of 1M after some testing this week.

If anyone is having issues with conversions, please let the list know,
or file them as issues.

Hey JJ and list --

I've been trying to bring my wordpress blog onto blogger and have been
using the wordpress2blogger.appspot.com site. My exported XML file is
<1 MB, and the converter seems to work fine. However, on importing, I
continually get this error:

"Sorry, the import failed due to a server error. The error code is bX-
jzw42l"

Has anybody been getting a similar error?

Thanks.

I contacted the Blogger folks about this error. They're looking into
it, and I'll let you know when things appear to be back to normal.

FYI, I did an import into Blogger today and it went fine. It may be a
conversion bug but this particular error seems as though it's a
Blogger bug.

Anyone else experiencing bX-jzw42l?

hi JJ
I'm trying to import my wordpress.com blog into blogger,
the wordpress2blogger.appspot.com site creates an .xml of 2,6 mb (the
original one from wordpress is 2.4) and when I import it into blogger
i get the correct number of posts but an extremely lower mumber of
comments (260 instead of 899). I tried to set up the comment settings
to "anyone" before importing the file but nothing changed. Is there a
particular reason for all those missing comments?
Thanks.

I forgot to say that I found some comments that were on the wordpress
blog but are missing from the one on blogger. So I opened the .xml
files with notepad and I found them by looking for their content.
They're in the blogger .xml file too, so I think it's not a conversion
issue but more like a blogger bug. Am I correct? Can anyone help me,
please?
Thanks.

This does indeed sound like a Blogger bug. The failure rate for those
comments is way too high. What was the content of one of the failed
comments? Perhaps it had to do with Blogger scrubbing HTML out of the
comment incorrectly. Do these failed comments contain HTML, or are
they just plain text?

They all are just plain text comments just like the other 260 that
were published.
