A lot of people is reporting this issue. It happens also on other phones
from another vendors. It seems that it's there for a long time yet.
*Fortunately there is a workaround*: just don't use the "Setup wizard"
(don't tap on "Begin setup"). Instead open menu, tap on "Set account" and
configure your account(s).

But it would be definitely nice, if someone could fix this bug. This is an
essential application and it's not easy to realize, how to walk around that.

@da...@ferenczy.cz, thanks for the trick! Now my 2-step verification has
been successfully setup!
Of course I also hope if the developer can fix this bug too. :)

Update: Authenticator has been working fine for me recently on my
developer edition Moto X first version. I didn't do anything to fix it,
other than forget about the problem and try using the app later. Maybe the
Authenticator app updated itself? The version I'm running is 2.49.

Mine is the same too. I uninstalled and reinstalled straight from the
google play store. I'm running the latest version and it's totally broken.
It worked fine on iOS. No idea what the problem is. I've switched to
toopher for last pass, it works.

Even though I follow the advice of the first comment to open the menu,
click "set account" and then choose my google account that is listed there,
I still only get the "authenticator has stopped working" message with the
options "report" and "ok". Not sure what to do ...

Sorry for the misunderstanding, was referring to neonra...@hotmail.com
since his problem seems to be solvable using da...@ferenczy.cz 's method.

Also thanks for your continuing support of this issue since I feel myself
so famous being listed first page on Google and many people has same issue
reportedly.

Comment #17 on issue 385 by ocie.oca...@gmail.com: Crashes on Android
https://code.google.com/p/google-authenticator/issues/detail?id=385

I got this working again.
I changed my 2 step verification to SMS then changed it back to the app,
chosing "android" this is where it displays the barcode. I
clicked "problems with barcode" and it displays a long code. I could enter
that and the app is back to normal.
Hope this helps
