New issue 412 by nick.kra...@gmail.com: 2-step enabled, can't authorize
Authenticator
http://code.google.com/p/google-authenticator/issues/detail?id=412

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I enabled 2-step verification for a Google Apps for Non-Profits account.
It works
2. I go to my phone's Authenticator which I use with my Gmail account, and
try to add the Google Apps account
3. Error, "Continue on a computer."

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect a new account to be added. I receive instructions to "To enable
2-step verifcation, visit accounts.google.com/security..."

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Authenticator 2.49 on Android 4.4.2

Please provide any additional information below.
I've tried disabling and re-enabling 2-step to know effect.

Same issue - new phone, disabled 2-steps temporarily, re-enabled. Now
installing Authenticator, keeps telling me to go to security settings on a
computer to enable the already-enabled 2-step on my account.

It appears that you can't use Authenticator on multiple devices - I had to
go to each authenticated account, scan the code again, and got a warning
that my prior device would no longer be supported. It's now working on my
new device, but Google needs to make hardware changes more seamless.

I had to do a factory reset to remove the encryption, the phone was very
very slow with it. So on the fresh reinstall everything works fine minus
Google Authenticator. I am using only codes through sms to authenticate
things, the app is broken.

Comment #9 on issue 412 by lance.j....@gmail.com: 2-step enabled, can't
authorize Authenticator
https://code.google.com/p/google-authenticator/issues/detail?id=412

I encountered this issue on my Galaxy Nexus after doing a clean re-install
of CyanogenMod 10.2.1. Disabled 2-step to add account to phone and re-sync
everything. Re-enabled 2 step, then was prompted to enter verification
code when logging into Google account on desktop PC. Tried to setup
authenticator ... "continue on computer".

So, to login on desktop PC, I sent a code to my phone via SMS and logged
in. Then in 2 step settings for authenticator, choose move to new phone,
select appropriate device type, then scan bar code using the authenticator
app, enter code, done!
