New issue 94 by patrick....@gmail.com: [Suggestion] Widget support

Pretty self-explanatory, I think it would be nice to have a home screen
widget that displays the code.
To be a bit more specific, I would like to be able to click "add widget",
then "Select account", then have a 4x1 widget that shows the code for
selected account.
(Sorry if this is not the appropriate place for suggestions. I couldn't
find anywhere else to post this.)
I forgot to mention, basically, I would like it to function more or less
like verisign's mobile app's widget.

Thanks for the suggestion! The good news is that such a widget is on our
short-term road map already. The bad news is that we can't give you a
precise date yet. I'll keep this issue updated.
I think it should be able to fit in a 2x1 widget just fine (although I see
no reason to exclude an option for a 4x1 widget as well if it's not
terribly complicated to do).
Blizzard's Battle.net authenticator has a 2x1 widget that displays the
authentication code -- when it gets to within 3 seconds of expiring, the
code turns red. A (better IMHO) UI would basically have a
progress-bar-type background or a thin progress bar line beneath the code
that "drains" towards the left as the code nears expiration.
Addition of the widget, in combination with another app like WidgetLocker,
would also serve the purpose of providing authentication on the lock
screen, reducing the amount of interaction required to obtain the
authentication code - in most cases, turning on the phone's screen would be
sufficient.
Attached are two sample interfaces for a 2x1 Google Authenticator widget as
I described above, as well as a (partially censored) screenshot of the
Battle.net authenticator.

If my vote counts for anything, I like the retreating background, but I
would go with a different color (blue maybe) and, personally, I would
prefer it to retreat to the right, not the left - but whatever.
Another possible feature would be that the widget does not display the code
by default. You would need to click on the widget to show the code.
FWIW (especially coming from me (who you say? exactly)) Let's make the
background (and foreground) color configurable so that it can be better
matched to anyone's home-screen color scheme. I don't have a strong
preference for the countdown UI. It could simply fade away over the last
10 seconds, or use a progress bar, or use color changes. Really looking
forward to availability of this widget.

Issue 128 has been merged into this issue.
I want my widget too!
I would like the widget!!.. The google authenticator UI is not the
prettiest seen but a widget would be awesome!.
Not to be hostile but I feel like this should have been done already. It's
a widget, how complicated can it be? Here's hoping it will be available
soon.
+1 to KPO. I don't want to sound ungrateful - I understand this is a free
product and I wouldn't expect the developers to do anything that requires
extra effort or do anything they don't want to do, but I do agree that a
widget would be awesome.
