New issue 483 by chadchan...@gmail.com: Authenticator app never sets up
2-step authentication (it is already set up in security settings)
https://code.google.com/p/google-authenticator/issues/detail?id=483

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. It lists my Gmail under Available accounts, but it won't connect. It
tells me to enable two-step authentication, even though I've had it enabled
for over a year.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see my codes. Instead I have to have Google text a code to me
cell.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
version 2.4.9 on Android 5.0 (new Moto X)

Please provide any additional information below.
I'm caught in a loop. Authenticator tells to me to enable two-step
verification, but it's already enabled. So when I go to double-check my
setting, I can;t get it without the code from the malfunctioning
authenticator. I end up having a code texted to my phone, but it's an extra
step. Imagine if I lost my phone? My Gmail account is listed in the app. It
just doesn't connect. I've even tried disabling and re-enablng two-step
authentication, but it doesn't help. The authenticator app is worthless to
me as it is. Please help.
