Extract data from spreadsheet to HTML file

Hi

I have data in a spreadsheet and I am obviously able to bring that into a variable in apps scrips to manipulate it but I want to then write the results of that variable into a bound HTML file. Is this even possible? I have tried looking at the HTML service and HTML templates but I haven't seen a way of directly editing the contents of a bound HTML file.

Yes, very possible. You are on the right track using "html file from template". 
Go to https://script.google.com/home/start and scroll down to the Apps Script Web App starter file which shows how it is done. There are also a few Youtube videos out there, some probably by  Laurence Svekis, and one or two by  Learn Google Sheets & Excel Spreadsheets
