Trying to trigger a gmail depending on cell value

Hi,

trying to help out our school counselors. So essentially students are filling out a Google Form and staff will look at the student data and will either approve or deny the form request. So if they input "approve" into the cell, we want an email auto sent to that student saying their form was approved, and vice versa for deny.

Never really used scripts before but I can work it out if given some directions. Hope this was a clear request. Thank you in advance!
