I know it'is possible (using the GDrive API) to access & modify standalone GAS-Project, but when dealing with embedded instead of standalone, then: Is there another way than the manual copy&paste approach?

You can try using CLASP

I've got two questions about that.

Q.1: Have you tried working w. GSheet embedded GAS-Projects using CLASP?
I'm asking because I recall having read that it's not possible to use external editors for embedded GAS-Projects, only works for standalone GAS-Projects. - Though! While I do remember having read that somewhere in Google's own official documentation or blog, then I can't remember exactly where or when. And since things tend to evolve (even for slowmo Google), then ... yeah, maybe it's possible today, while it wasn't back when.

Q.2: What kind of strain would that put on a local system, if that system is a Chromebook?
I'm on a Chromebook
- It's about 4½ years old. It was not a "bottom of the barrel, dirt cheap" one, when I bought it, but I don't know how it measures up to new ones found on the market of today.
- It hasn't got  the "Linux development environment"-option switched on, but that should be fairly easy to change.
  - Subsequently installing CLASP, should (I guess/hope) be doable too.

So: My two concerns, ref. above to questions, are thus:
1. Can CLASP actually deliver on working w. embedded GAS-Projects, not just standalone GAS-Projects.
2. What kind of system resource strain will a Chromebook be subjected to.

Can't help you with the second question (never owned or used a Chromebook).

OK, thanks!

By the way: It must be a fairly new option, because today (21.Dec.2024) on https://developers.google.com/apps-script/guides/import-export
- It says: "Only standalone scripts can be imported or exported. Container-bound scripts cannot be accessed through the Google Drive API."
