Usually the responses are recorded in the spreadsheet very consistently even if the trigger fails to trigger or if your software has a bug causing it to fail to run.
Having the responses in the spreadsheet gives you an easier way to recover from any failures (i.e. rerunning it manually to do whatever action you need).
