Docs convert selected text into list

Hello,

I'm trying to create a script that can convert selected text in a Google Doc into a bulleted list (ideally with hyphen bullets) and vice versa, but I can't seem to find a way to do that in the documentation.

Also, I'm wondering if there's a way to access "clear formatting" via Google script as well.
